PDT (Photodynamic Therapy) with Levulan®

Levulan® is an aminolevulinic acid solution (a substance found naturally within your body).

First, we perform a microdermabrasion of your skin to prepare it by removing the outer layer of dead skin. Levulan® solution is then applied to skin that is plagued by either acne, acneic scarring or in need of rejuvenation. The Levulan is left to absorb into your skin and the solution is absorbed selectively by the abnormal skin cells in the treated area. The Levulan® is then activated with blue light. Abnormal cells are then destroyed by the light..

Levulan® is used to treat:

• Moderate to severe acne        
• Precancerous skin lesions known as AK’s (Actinic Keratosis)
